Revolution of Knowledge Work

Revolution of Knowledge Work is funded by Tekes, as a large strategic opening. The first funding period is 1 September 2013 - 30 April 2015 and the second funding period is 1 April 2015 - 31 March 2017.

We create information-seeking and sense-making methods supporting a revolution of knowledge work.

Our symbiotic human-information interfaces to heterogeneous data sources are context-aware user-controlled explanation-giving and interactive.

By combining the potential of human creativity and the capability of computers to handle data, we support human cognition, freeing the knowledge worker’s time to sense-making, collaboration and creative thinking.

Research groups

The project is multidisciplinary. The research is concucted by the Brain and Work Research Centre at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH) and seven research groups at Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT.

FIOH is a research and specialist organization in the field of occupational health and safety. HIIT is a joint research institute of Aalto University and the University of Helsinki for basic and applied research on information technology.

The project builds on previous research undertaken at FIOH and HIIT. Information about the HIIT wide focus area can be found here.
